Formed in prison in 2017, the Wak Therapists began their musical journey whilst serving time and attending Changing Tunes sessions with Musician-in-Residence, Dave Fugler. Upon release, the band continued to jam together and write their own songs. Fast-forward three years and their debut EP, Escapology, is ready for release. The EP showcases five original tracks, typically featuring hard-hitting socio-political rap over heavy grooves, hip hop beats and hooks. It’s unapologetically truthful and exploding with energy. The lead single ‘ZIPIT’ perfectly combines their signature bars with the bands raw energy, to convey a sound reminiscent of Rage Again the Machine in their hay day. Pariah says the track ‘asks my fellow offenders exactly what it says on the tin’. The music video was self filmed by the band and edited by Gareth Hamer at Changing Tunes.
